The "Hashkiveinu (we will stand for life)" is a ketubah that brings together styles of antique ketubot with contemporary illustration and postmodern design.

The title comes from the nighttime prayer of the same name. It is a protective prayer that seemed fitting to this highly symbolic artwork that features a protective eye meant to ward off the “evil eye”, along with the phases of the moon that represent time’s passage both toward the past and forward into the future.

It was originally made for a couple whose grandparents were survivors of the Holocaust which is where the Phoenix at the bottom of the composition originated. I generally try to replace this symbol with something specific to the couple purchasing as requested by the commissioners of the original piece for duplicates. Others edits such as changing the background pattern or colors is also possible.*
